Horse Rescue
On April 13, 2010, Bethany Fire Dept responded to a
reported animal rescue on NC 65. Bethany units arrived
on scene to find a horse that had fell through a septic
system. A local vet was on scene and sedated the horse
while crews attempted to extricate the horse using a
harness provided by a local citizen. After about two
hours on scene the horse was finally removed from the
septic system by utilizing a backhoe provided by one of
the volunteer firefighters. Four members of Bethany FD
had to be taken to a local hospital for exposure to the
contents from the septic tank. All members were clear
the following days. |
